U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA): Science and Research (Medical Devices)
To ensure public safety and proper use of medical devices, the FDA monitors reports of problems or errors with medical devices and alerts the public and healthcare professionals. FDA laboratories conduct research through collaborations with healthcare providers, academia, industry, and other government agencies. Center for Devices and Radiological Health or CDRH works to advance the science of developing new standards, tools, and approaches to efficacy, quality, performance, and safety of medical devices and radiation-emitting products through laboratory and field research in the domains of life, physical, and engineering sciences along with epidemiological research in post-market medical device safety.
