The area of specialization in healthcare dealing with the advocacy of patients, caregivers, survivors, etc., is called patient advocacy. The patient advocacy services may be offered by individuals or organizations (patient advocacy organizations) not necessarily associated with a specific group of disorders. Patient advocates' main job is to educate the patients about the processes and options in care within the healthcare facility.
