Oncology is a field in medicine which deals with the diagnosis and treatment of cancer. This branch of medicine researches identifies and takes care of cancer. The area of oncology categorizes into three different types- medical, surgical, and radiation. Medical oncology focuses on cancer treatment based on chemotherapy, targeted therapy, or immunotherapy, while surgical and radiation oncology deals with the treatment of cancer via surgical and radiation methods, respectively.
