New CMS Dementia Care Model Opens Doors Of Opportunity For Home-Based Care Providers
The Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) have launched the nationwide dementia care GUIDE Model, a voluntary initiative set to commence on July 1, 2024. This program aims to significantly improve the support provided to dementia patients and their caregivers across the United States. One of its key features is the exploration of innovative reimbursement mechanisms for various home-based care providers. CMS is actively encouraging participation and has initiated the collection of non-binding letters of interest, a process open until mid-September. Detailed application procedures and further information are expected to be released in the coming months, as conveyed by Tina Hansen Pickett, representing ATI Advisory. This initiative holds great promise in addressing the critical needs of those affected by dementia, promoting a comprehensive and compassionate approach to their care.
