Developing Simulation-Based Telehealth Training for Next-Gen Nurses
Illinois State University (ISU) and OSF HealthCare are launching the Simulation to Address Rural Telehealth Education Development (STARTED) project, a telehealth training program for nurses. The program, part of ISU and OSF’s Connected Communities Initiative, addresses the growing need for practical telehealth training. With telehealth visits rising, the STARTED project provides web-based modules and simulations for nursing students, focusing on effective telehealth practices, especially in rural areas. The first year involves 120 BSN students and 24 FNP graduate students. With a primary goal to meet healthcare needs in Illinois, the project initially focuses on opioid use disorder (OUD) and aims to expand to address various healthcare challenges.
